HibisQs Longlife is the name for highly improved and developed varieties within the Hibiscus world. It is the trademark for a unique range of genetically enhanced Hibiscus. The strongest characteristics of the variety compared to the 'normal' varieties is that the flower blooms for 3 to 6 days (depending on variety), where that is normally 1 to 2 days. The time of the 'one-day flower' is thus over. Not only does this immediately offer more decorative value for the consumer, it is also advantageous on the shop floor and people experience less flowering than with ordinary Hibiscus.
In addition, the color intensity of the flower is very high and the flowers are large, in terms of diameter +/- 15 centimeters. HibisQs mainly concentrates on breeding the flower and they are convinced that an appealing, large flower with the accompanying HibisQs properties sells well in the store. The flower bud of a HibisQs also grows more slowly than normal. The bud phase from small bud to large colored 'candle' can take up to two weeks. Buds that develop slowly but still show color naturally offer decorative value to the consumer. This in turn ensures a higher turnover rate on the shop floor.
